Officially it has almost one million population. However, my impression was that it was a small city. Despite that impression, we could enjoy various dishes from different countries, including local, Senegalese, Ghanaian, Vietnamese, etc.
We could see Mr. Takahashi, Representative of the Greening the Sahel, an aid NGO of Japan, and its staff member Mr. Seto who were in research to identify a new project site in Burkina Faso,. which the village of Takabangou near the border to Niger became later. We happened to meet Mr. Komatsu who happened to have checked in to the same hotel as Mr. Takahashi. Mr. Komatsu had just came from Ghana on a rough road. His photos are full of his love of the people living in different parts of the world. This fortunate meeting led to Mr. Komatsu's provision of his photos for the Greening the Sahel's calendar.
