マラケシュ

マラケシュには、日本語も使えると書いてあるインターネット・カフェさえある。特に、フナ広場の南側一帯には多い。まずは、数日ぶりに、そのうちの1軒でe-mailのチェック。カサブランカで爆弾テロがあったので、みんな心配しているよとのe-mailが姪から届いていた。新聞など読まず、テレビなども見ていなかったから驚く。

前夜の宿は、きれいではあるが、部屋が日本の古いビジネス・ホテル並にひどく狭く、コスト・パフォーマンスが悪いので、あまりきれいではないが、とにかく安いためにコスト・パフォーマンスは良い駅の近くの宿に移る。Hotel Farouk: 朝食付100DH。タオル・せっけんなし、トイレ紙あり。(同経営のレストランはまずまず。朝食のクレープはその場で焼いている。)

その後、レンタカーを返し、メディナの中心部を歩く。フナ広場の北に面する新スークの店は、価格をふっかけてくることもなく、こちらの欲しいものも熱心に探してくれたりした。客層を見ても、地元の人が多かった。

There are many Internet cafes in Marrakech, particularly in the immediate south of the Djemaa el Fna. There were even such cafes where Japanese singes were shown as the Japanese language could be used with their computers. In one of them I connected my small lap top to read e-mails some days after I had last read and was surprised by an e-mail from my nice who said that people were anxious about me because there had been a terrorist attack with a bomb in Casa Blanca. I had not read any newspaper or watched TV during the past several days.

Last night's hotel was clean but the room was extremely small, which made the cost-effectiveness quite bad. Therefore I moved to a hotel in a walking distance to the train station, which was not very clean but the cost-effectiveness was quite good because the room was so cheap: Hotel Farouk: DH 100 with breakfast and with toilet paper but without towel or soap. The restaurant on the first floor was very good.

After checking-in, I returned the car to walk in the medina. The shops in the new souq were not expensive or so agressive. They tried to identify what I wanted. Their customers seemd to be local people.
